Devotion for Exodus 12 & 13

This week, we hear the story of the Passover (Exodus 12:1-13; 13:1-8). It is the climax of the story of the Exodus, when the people of Israel are liberated from slavery.

This week, I invite you read the whole story, beginning with Exodus 7 after opening your time with prayer.

Gracious God, you are the Word and you have given us the Word. We come to your Word today asking you to open our hearts and minds to know you more, to know what your doing and hear how this connects with our lives today. Amen.

As you read, consider the following questions:

What comforts you?

What challenges you?

What parts of the story make you uncomfortable? What seems out of character as you know and love God?

How might the areas that make you uncomfortable connect with situations in our world today? How might the biblical narrative help us understand the current events in our world?

Close your time in prayer, bringing your insights and questions before God.
