Who we are
We are a community made up of both saints and sinners, pulled between serving God and serving ourselves. The people gathered as Risen Lord Lutheran Church in Bargersville, Indiana, have been part of the Center Grove community for over 25 years.
Members come from Bargersville, Franklin, Whiteland, Greenwood, Mooresville, Martinsville and more. We are part of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are also home to Risen Lord Montessori School.

Our community is made up of many leaders who are passionate about living out God's call to serve others. Here are a few of our key paid and volunteer servants:
Rev. Wendy D. Kalan
Pastor
Rev. Wendy Kalan delights in nurturing congregations to embrace a bold proclamation of God’s grace and love for everyone through Jesus Christ - no exceptions!
Pastor Wendy began serving at Risen Lord Lutheran Church in 2021 after moving back to Indiana.
Since graduating from Greenwood High School in 1990, she has lived in seven different states. Pastor Wendy earned a teaching degree from Valparaiso University in 1994. From there, she and her late husband moved around with his job, which gave Wendy the opportunity to have a breadth of work experience, including teaching high school and coaching cross country and track.
In the early 2000s, she began discerning a call to ministry. After moving to Oregon in 2006, Wendy’s husband was killed in a bicycle accident. The next year, Wendy and her children, then 4 and 7, moved to Iowa so she could attend Wartburg Theological Seminary.
After graduating in 2011, Wendy served as pastor to two different churches in Northeast Colorado. Her work ministering to the poor with her congregations led to her serving on the Governor’s Clergy Council under two Colorado governors and her work with the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado.
After almost a decade in Colorado, Pastor Wendy moved to Indiana to be near her aging parents and other family. She also reconnected with her high school boyfriend, Scott Hohl. They were married at Risen Lord in July 2022 and live in Indianapolis. They enjoy their four shared children, all nearly grown, a rambunctious golden doddle, and a presumptuous cat.
Paige Mecyssine
Congregational Musician
Paige Mecyssine is a pianist, vocalist, and a cappella enthusiast who studied classical piano throughout childhood and into college, where she graduated with a minor in music alongside her Master of Healthcare Administration degree. Paige works in quality and compliance at a community health center and teaches piano in Indianapolis.
Karin Smith
Administrative Assistant
Karin Smith has been a member of Risen Lord for over 20 years. In that time, Karin has served on Altar Guild and the Leadership Team. In addition, Karin is at the forefront of many of Risen Lord's outreach efforts, including Interchurch Food Pantry, Fast Track school supplies collection, and our booth at Greenwood Pride.
