I’m going on a journey, and I’m starting today. My head is wet, and I’m on my way. Christ’s mark is on me; it’s on you too; It says he loves me, and he loves you, too! I’m becoming this day, a saint of God. It really doesn’t matter, what roads I trod. Wherever I go, God’s been there too. God’s love has touched me and will carry me through. There are other saints who have said amen. They’ll keep me faithful till my journey’s end. Along the way, I want to be The kind of person that God set free. -ELW 446 “I’m Going on a Journey”
Guess what! We’re getting ready to go on a journey - all of us! Together! In the next few weeks, you will hear many invitations to join our Journey during Lent (March 10 - April 13). One of our commitments in redevelopment is the deepening of our discipleship and building relationships. During the Journey, we will spend five weeks doing that as well as dig into our purpose statement and guiding principles. So, how are we going to do that? The Journey has three parts: 1. Worship
2. Small Group study
3 .Challenge Each week, as we gather for worship, we will begin contemplating a guiding principle and how it connects to scripture. Then, through the week you will gather with a small group to do a study together and then pick your challenge for how you will live out the principle in your life during the week. Now is the time to sign up for a group! We will have sign-ups open February 3-24 for people to choose a group that works for them. Each group will meet at the same time each week for five weeks. While we know that everyone is busy and schedules change, we hope that you will make all the meetings possible, even if it is only a few. While many see faith as an individual thing, we believe that faith is made whole in community - that the body of Christ is stronger when we are together. Sign up in the gathering space beginning on Sunday. There are groups meeting in the day time or in the evening, at church or in homes. If there is not one that works for you, talk to Pastor Lecia about starting another small group. As a community of faith, we committed to redevelopment which begins with growing our own discipleship and relationships, so please join us on this Journey together! I hope you will join us on this journey together! In the abiding hope of the Risen Lord, Pastor Lecia
